The Central Government on Friday extended the term of additional judges, Irshad Ali and Rahul Chaturvedi of Allahabad High Court for another six months from September 22, Monday.

The Central Government on Friday notified the appointment of additional judge, Justice Neeraj Tiwari as a permanent judge of the Allahabad High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.

Justice Vineet Kothari appointed acting Chief Justice of Madras HC

Justice Vineet Kothari, the senior-most Judge of the Madras High Court, will perform the duty of Chief Justice. This comes after the President accepted the resignation of Chief Justice Vijaya Tahilramani. The resignation will be effective September 6. A notification in this regard was issued late on Friday.

Justice Tahilramani had resigned on September 6 after the Supreme Court turned down her request to reconsider the Apex Court collegium’s decision to transfer her to the Meghalaya High Court as its Chief Justice.

Justice Ujjal Bhuyan of Gauhati HC transferred to Bombay HC

The Central Government on Thurday notified the tranfer of Justice Ujjal Bhuyan of Gauhati High Court to Bombay High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium had, last month, recommended transfer of Jutice Bhuyan of the Gauhati High Court in the interest of better administration of Justice.

Kausik Chanda appointed as Additional Judge of Calcutta HC

The Central Government on Thurday notified the appointment of Advocate Kausik Chanda as an additional judge to the Calcutta High Court for a two year term.

The Government cleared his name for elevation to the High Court Bench pursuant to a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation made in July this year.

Four Additional Judges appointed to Karnataka HC

The Central Government on Thurday notified the appointment of four advocates as Additional Judges to the Karnataka High Court in the order of seniority for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume of their respective offices:

Supreme Court Collegium now recommends Justice Kureshi’s appointment as Tripura High Court Chief Justice

The Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has now recommended to the government to appoint Justice A.A Kureshi as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium has modified its May 10 recommendation to appoint Justice A.A. Kureshi as the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh after the government sent it to two consecutive letters to reconsider the proposal.

None selected for the post of MD, BPRL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has failed to find suitable candidate for the post of Managing Director, Bharat Petro Resources Limited (BPRL), at a selection meeting held on September 20, 2019. The PESB interviewed nine candidates for the job following which it announced that the administrative ministry/department might choose an appropriate course of action for selection.
