IRS-IT officers of 1986 and 1987 batch empanelled as Chief Commissioner of Income Tax
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Monday cleared the empanelment of 1986 batch (left overs) and 1987 batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officers for promotion to the grade of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) for the Panel Years 2018 (Supplementary Panel) and 2019 (Regular Panel).

Further, the Department have not kept vacancies in reserve to consider K Timothy Zimik, Pramod Kumar Srivastava and Avinash Kishore Sahay, whose empanelment for promotion to the grade of CCIT for the panel year 2018 had earlier been deferred by the ACC. Accordingly, the promotion of 06 junior most officers have been cleared on ‘ad hoc’ basis till the sealed cover/deferred cases are finalised or subsequent regular vacancies in the grade arise.

ACC approves appointment of Deputy Secretaries in three Departments
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, on Monday, has recommended central deputation tenure for three officers from different services as Deputy Secretary in different departments for a period of four years .
The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:
- Hanumaiah Korukonda (ICAS:2008) : Deputy Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs.
- Ashok Kumar(IPS:2006) : Deputy Secretary, Department of Justice.
- Ms. Jaya Priyadarshini Yarikipati (IES:2008) : Deputy Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management.
Former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan passes away
Former Chief Election Commissioner Tirunellai Narayana Seshan (IAS:1955:TN) died of a cardiac arrest on Sunday in Chennai. He was 86 years old and was not keeping good health for the past couple of years. TN Seshan was the 10th Chief Election Commissioner and served from December 12, 1990, till December 11, 1996.
Dharmendra appointed as Chairman of NDMC
Dharmendra (IAS:1989:AGMUT) was appointed Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council. The Union home ministry issued a notification in this regard on Friday. Dharmendra was posted with the Union ministry of consumer affairs (department of food and public distribution) as additional secretary.
Dharmendra succeeds Naresh Kumar, who in July 2019 was transferred and appointed chief secretary of Arunachal Pradesh.
