IAS Samarth Verma appointed Director in Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways

IAS officer Samarth Verma (IAS:2011:OD) has been appointed to the post of Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Delhi, for five years.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (September 29, 2025), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Mr Verma to the post for a period of five years under central staffing scheme on deputation basis from date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Currently, Samarth Verma is serving in the cadre as Director, Minor Minerals and Managing Director of the Odisha Film Development Corporation.

Sufiyah Faruqui Wali appointed GM of FCI, Bhopal

IAS officer Sufiyah Faruqui Wali (IAS:2009:MP) has been appointed as General Manager (Region) of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh Region), under the Department of Food and Public Distribution.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (September 29, 2025), the competent authority has approved her appointment to the post for a period of three years under the Central Staffing Scheme, on deputation basis, from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Interestingly, she was only recently, on August 8, appointed as Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) for Madhya Pradesh and was scheduled to assume charge of that post on October 1, 2025. However, before she could take up the assignment, she has now been moved to the FCI as General Manager.

Shirish Chandra Murmu appointed RBI Deputy Governor for three Years

The Central government on Monday (September 29, 2025) appointed Shirish Chandra Murmu, Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), as Deputy Governor of the central bank for a three-year term starting October 9, 2025. He will succeed M Rajeshwar Rao, who retires on October 8 after completing five years in the post.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved Murmu’s appointment for three years from the date of joining, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Murmu, currently based in Mumbai, heads the Department of Supervision at RBI. At the executive director level, he has been responsible for regulatory compliance, governance, inter-departmental coordination, and internal administration. He has also played a key role in shaping regulatory policies within the central bank’s organisational framework.

Rao was first appointed Deputy Governor in September 2020 for a three-year term and received extensions in 2023 and 2024, completing a full five-year tenure on October 8, 2025.

As per the RBI Act, 1934, the central bank has four Deputy Governors — two from within the institution, one from the commercial banking sector, and one economist to lead the monetary policy department. The other three current deputy governors are T Rabi Sankar, Swaminathan J, and Poonam Gupta.

Maharashtra govt reinstates IPS officer G Vijay Krishna Yadav after suspension

The Maharashtra government has reinstated G Vijay Krishna Yadav (IPS:2015:MH), who had been under suspension since 2018 over alleged involvement in a bribery case. He was reinstated on September 22 and posted as Deputy Superintendent of Human Rights, Amravati district.

Yadav was suspended in 2018 while serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Amravati, after he was accused of demanding a bribe from a building materials supplier booked for theft at Tivasa police station.

The state government had recommended Yadav’s dismissal in 2019, following which the centre had sought a clarification regarding why he should be dismissed. IPS officers are central government employees and cannot be dismissed without the centre’s approval.

The Union Home Ministry directed the state to follow due process of law and conduct a departmental inquiry. It also accorded sanction to prosecute Yadav if found guilty during the inquiry.

Union Home Ministry accepts resignation of IPS officer Rachita Juyal

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has accepted the resignation of Rachita Juyal (IPS:2015:UK), who had applied for voluntary retirement in June 2025. The approval came within three months, and the Uttarakhand government has also issued formal acceptance orders.

Juyal, who was serving as Superintendent of Police (SP), Vigilance, was overseeing the Haridwar Municipal Corporation land scam investigation at the time of her resignation.

She had cited personal and family reasons while seeking VRS.

An officer of the 2025 batch, Juyal earlier served as ADC to the Governor of Uttarakhand and later went on central deputation to the Intelligence Bureau.

Five IAS officers transferred in Telangana; M Haritha is new Collector of Rajanna Sircilla

The Telangana government on Saturday (September 27, 2025) issued transfer and posting orders for five IAS officers, effecting key changes across departments.

The names of the officers and their postings as follows;

  1. Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi (IAS:1999:TG), Principal Secretary, Commercial Taxes & Excise Department, has been placed in full additional charge of the post of Principal Secretary to Government (Poll), General Administration Department, relieving M Raghunandan Rao (IAS:2002:TG) from the additional charge.
  2. M Raghunandan Rao (IAS:2002:TG), Secretary, Agriculture & Co-operation Department, has been transferred and posted as Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, replacing K Haritha (IAS:2013:TG). He is also given full additional charge of Commissioner, Transport Department.
  3. K Surendra Mohan (IAS:2006:TG), Commissioner, Transport Department, has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Agriculture & Co-operation Department, replacing Raghunandan Rao (IAS:2002:TG). He will continue to hold full additional charge of Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Director, Marketing.
  4. M Haritha (IAS:2013:TG), Special Secretary, Education Department, has been transferred and posted as Collector & District Magistrate, Rajanna Sircilla, vice Sandeep Kumar Jha (IAS:2014:TG).
  5. Sandeep Kumar Jha (IAS:2014:TG), Collector & District Magistrate, Rajanna Sircilla, has been transferred and posted as Special Secretary, TR&B Department.

Telangana transfers 23 IPS officers in major reshuffle

In a major reshuffle in the police administration, the Telangana government on Saturday (September 27, 2025) issued transfer and posting orders of 23 IPS officers.

Among the key changes, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has been elevated as Special Chief Secretary, Home Department, while VC Sajjanar has been appointed the new Hyderabad Police Commissioner. In another significant move, Vijay Kumar has been posted as ADGP, Intelligence.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Ravi Gupta (IPS:1990:TG), Special Chief Secretary, Home Department, has been transferred and posted as Executive Vice Chairman and Director General for Good Governance Telangana.
  2. C V Anand (IPS:1991:TG), Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad is transferred and posted as Special Chief Secretary, Home Department.
  3. Shikha Goel (IPS:1994:TG), Director, TG Cyber Security Bureau, Hyderabad and HFAC Director, Telangana, FSL , Hyderabad is transferred and posted as Director General, Vigilance & Enforcement and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary, General Administration Department. She is also placed in full additional charge of the post of Director, TG Cyber Security Bureau, Hyderabad.
  4. Swati Lakra (IPS:1995:TG), Additional Director General of Police, Organization and Home Guards, Hyderabad is placed in full additional charge of the post of Director General, Special Protection Force.

Rajeev Verma appointed Delhi Chief Secretary

Senior IAS officer Rajeev Verma (IAS:1992:AGMUT) has been appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Delhi. The appointment was cleared by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday.

He will succeed Dharmendra (IAS:1989:AGMUT), who is set to retire on September 30, 2025. is presently serving as Advisor to the Administrator and Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, a position he has held since November 2024.

He is expected to assume charge as Delhi’s Chief Secretary on October 1, 2025.

ACC appoints 10 IPS officers as Special DGs in CAPFs, IB, NIA

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) Saturday (September 27, 2025) approved the elevation of ten senior IPS officers to the post of Special Director General (SDG) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and NIA. The appointments were cleared following a proposal by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The officers appointed are:

  • Zaki Ahmad (IPS:1993:UP) – IG, CRPF, appointed as Special DG, CRPF, till his superannuation on March 31, 2028.
  • Raja Srivastava (IPS:1994:UP) – ADG, CRPF, appointed as Special DG, CRPF, till his superannuation on February 28, 2029.
  • Amit Kumar (IPS:1994:BH) – ADG, CRPF, appointed as Special DG, CRPF, till his superannuation on October 31, 2030.
  • Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal (IPS:1994:TN) – ADG, BSF, appointed as Special DG, BSF, till his superannuation on March 31, 2032.
  • Apte Vinayak Prabhakar (IPS:1994:TG), Manmeet Singh Narang (IPS:1994:AGMUT), and Anurag Kumar (IPS:1994:MP) – All three Additional Directors in IB, appointed as Special DGs, IB, on in-situ basis by upgrading their existing posts for a tenure of two years.
  • Rakesh Aggarwal (IPS:1994:HP) – ADG, NIA, appointed as Special DG, NIA, on in-situ basis for a tenure of two years.
  • Anupama Nilekar Chandra (IPS:1994:BH) – ADG, SSB, appointed as Special DG, SSB, on in-situ basis for a tenure of two years.
  • Deepak Kumar (IPS:1994:AM) – ADG, CRPF, appointed as Special DG, CRPF, on in-situ basis for a tenure of two years.

The appointments will be effective from the date the officers assume charge and remain in force until their superannuation or further government orders, whichever is earlier.

ACC clears empanelment of 16 IRS officers as Principal Chief Commissioners/DGs

In a major development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of sixteen senior officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) for promotion to the grade of Principal Chief Commissioner/Principal Director General of Customs and Indirect Taxes, the apex level in the service. The empanelment covers the Supplementary Panel for 2025 as well as the Regular Panel for 2026.
