The tenure of Parameswaran Iyer (Retd.IAS:1981:UP) as Secretary, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti has been extended for a period of one year beyond 30.04.2020 i.e. 30.04.2021.
Rajiv Bansal appointed as CMD, Air India
Senior bureaucrat Rajiv Bansal (IAS:1988:NL) was on Thursday appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Air India. Presently, he is serving as additional secretary in the ministry of petroleum and natural gas.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as Chairman & Managing Director, Air India in the rank and pay of additional secretary.
Bansal would succeed Ashwani Lohani, who was appointed to the post on February 13 last year for a period of one year.
This would be Bansal’s second stint as Air India CMD. In 2017, he was appointed to the post, succeeding Lohani, who was named Chairman of the Railway Board.
Debasish Panda appointed Finance Services Secretary
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appointed Debasish Panda (IAS:1987:UP) as the secretary of finance ministry’s department of financial services. Presently, he is serving as special secretary at the department of financial services.
Panda will replace finance and financial services secretary Rajiv Kumar (IAS:1984:JH), who will superannuate on February 29. He joined finance ministry in 2017, played a crucial role in initiating several reforms in the stressed banking and the shadow banking sector.
Modi govt effects bureaucratic reshuffle at Secretary level
The Narendra Modi government on Thursday effected a major bureaucratic rejig at the level of Secretary. This list includes 06 IAS officers from 1985 and 1987 batches.
The name of the officers and their postings are as follows :
- Rajeev Ranjan (IAS:1985:TN) appointed as Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying vice Ms. Rajni Sekhri Sibal (IAS:1986:HY) upon her superannuation on 29.02.2020. Presently, he is Special Secretary, GST Council Secretariat, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.
- Pawan Kumar Agarwal (IAS:1985:WB) appointed as Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Presently, he is Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India FSSAI)
- Saraswati Prasad (IAS:1985:AM) appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes in the rank and pay of Secretary. Presently, he is Special Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Steel.
- Ms. Usha Sharma (IAS:1985:RJ) appointed as Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Presently, she is Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, Ministry of Culture.
- Raj Kumar (IAS:1987:GJ) appointed as Secretary, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Presently, he is Director General, Employees’s State Insurance Corporation, Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The Assam government on Tuesday issued transfer and posting orders of two senior IAS officers in the state.
