Nasir Kamal appointed as Director, NICFS

Bengaluru IPS officer Isha Pant transferred twice in four days
A senior IPS officer in Bengaluru, Isha Pant (IPS:2011:KN), has faced two transfers inside four days. Serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Bengaluru South-East division, on February 26, she was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as the Superintendent of Police (SP).
On February 29, however, the state government re-instated her as the DCP of Bengaluru South-East division. Hours later, another order was issued posting her as the DCP, Command Centre of Bengaluru. Pant has been replaced by Srinath Mahadev Joshi-a 2015 batch IPS- in Bengaluru South-East division.
Civil servants’ intake by UPSC to go down by 100 this year
The Union Public Service Commission has decided to cut the recruitment numbers of civil servants by one hundred this year. Approximately 796 vacancies would be filled this year, as against 896 last year.
In 2018, there was a shortage of 1,449 IAS, 970 IPS and about 560 IFS officers. But the UPSC has continued to recruit fewer officers. The government is re-employing retired senior officers, and also giving a push for lateral entry, resulting in a reduction in top positions.
