The Bihar government on Saturday (30.09.2023) relieved the Senior IAS officer Arunish Chawla (IAS:1992:BH) from his current responsibilities within the state government. This move was made to facilitate his transition to a new role within the central government on deputation. The central government had previously issued an order on August 31, appointing Mr. Chawla as the Secretary of the Department of Pharmaceuticals. He is set to assume this role upon the retirement of S Aparna (IAS:1988:GJ) on October 31, 2023.
Until that date, Mr. Chawla will serve as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Department of Pharmaceuticals. Currently, he holds various key positions in the Bihar state government, including his role as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department, where he also assumes the additional charge of Secretary for the Bihar State Planning Board. Moreover, he serves as the Project Director of the Bihar Aapda Punarwas Evam Punarnirman Society (BAPEPS), Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, and is the Managing Director of the Patna Metro Rail Corporation.
