Finally, it is official. Senior IPS officer Alok Raj (IPS:1989:BH) was on Friday appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar. He will replace Rajwinder Singh Bhatti (IPS:1990:BH), who was recently appointed as the Director General of CISF. This appointment puts an end to speculation about who will head the police force in the state.
From Friday morning onward, it became increasingly clear that Alok Raj was leading the race for the DGP post. Although Vinay Kumar was initially considered the frontrunner following the appointment Rajwinder Singh Bhatti as DG of CISF, the last 24 hours were crucial. Key developments at the government level created a favourable atmosphere for Alok Raj, ultimately securing him the top position in the state’s police administration.
