Bihar: 7 IAS officers shifted; Pratyay Amrit posted as new Development Commissioner

The Bihar government on Tuesday (22.10.2024) implemented a significant bureaucratic reshuffle by issuing transfer orders for seven IAS officers. Among the key changes is the transfer of senior IAS officer Chaitanya Prasad from the post of Development Commissioner to Chief Enquiry Commissioner in the General Administration Department (GAD). The Development Commissioner position, second only to the Chief Secretary in the state, has now been assigned to Pratyay Amrit, marking a notable elevation in his stature within Bihar’s bureaucracy.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

1. Chaitanya Prasad (IAS:1990:BH), Development Commissioner, has been transferred and posted as Chief Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department (GAD).
2. Pratyay Amrit (IAS:1991:BH), Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department with additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Road Construction and, Disaster Management Department, has been transferred and posted as Development Commissioner with additional charge of the post of Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Disaster Management Department.
3. Mihir Kumar Singh (IAS:1993:BH), Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department with additional charge of the posts of Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Mines Commissioner; MD, Bihar State Mining Corporation Limited, Mines & Geology Department and Chief Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department, has been transferred and posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Road Construction Department. Further, he has been relieved from the charge of Chief Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department.
4. Narmdeshwar Lal (IAS:1998:BH), Principal Secretary, Sugarcane Industries Department, has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary-cum-Mines Commissioner, Mines & Geology Department with additional charge of MD, Bihar State Minerals Development Corporation; MD, Bihar State Mining Corporation Limited and Mines & Geology Department.
5. Divesh Sehra (IAS:2005:BH), Secretary, SC & ST Welfare Department with additional charge of CEO, Mahadalit Development Mission; MD, Bihar State Scheduled Caste Cooperative Development Corporation Limited and Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Panchayat Raj.
6. Dharmendra Singh (IAS:2006:BH), Secretary, Cooperative Department with additional charge of Secretary, Mines & Geology Department and Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department, has relieved of the charge of Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department.
7. B Kartikey Dhanji (IAS:2008:BH), Secretary, Road Construction Department with additional charge of Enquiry Commissioner, General Administration Department, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Sugarcane Industries Department.
