In a key development, Bhupender Gupta has been selected for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Limited. The selection was made during a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) interview held on June 11, 2025.
Gupta is currently serving as Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited. Following his selection, PESB will recommend his name to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). His formal appointment will follow after vigilance clearances and ACC approval.
As reported earlier by www.legendofficers.com on May 28, the PESB had scheduled the interview for CMD, NHPC, for this date.
The current CMD of NHPC, Raj Kumar Chaudhary, is scheduled to retire on June 30, 2025. He was appointed to the post on August 6, 2024.
