In a major administrative restructuring following the creation of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), the Karnataka government on Tuesday (September 2, 2025) reassigned senior IAS officers from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to key positions in the newly formed urban governance body.
According to the official notification, the following postings have been made with immediate effect:
- Maheshwar Rao M. (IAS:1995:KN), Chief Commissioner, BBMP, has been appointed as Chief Commissioner, Greater Bengaluru Authority, Bengaluru.
- Munish Moudgil (IAS:1998:KN), Special Commissioner (Revenue), BBMP, has been posted as Special Commissioner (Admin, Revenue and IT), GBA, Bengaluru.
- Suralak Vikas Kishor (IAS:2012:KN), Special Commissioner (Health), BBMP, has been assigned as Special Commissioner (Health and Education), GBA, Bengaluru.
- Harish Kumar K. (IAS:2012:KN), Special Commissioner (Finance), BBMP, has been appointed as Special Commissioner (Finance) cum Chief Financial Officer, GBA, Bengaluru.
- Preeti Gehlot (IAS:2016:KN), Special Commissioner (Forest & Environment), BBMP, has been posted as Special Commissioner (FECC, Elections, Disaster Management, Public Relations and Coordination), GBA, Bengaluru.
This restructuring move comes in line with the government’s decision to replace BBMP with the Greater Bengaluru Authority, aimed at streamlining administration and strengthening governance across the metropolitan region.
