Bijay Kumar Sharma (IPS:1986:OR), Director General (DG) of Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence, has been appointed as Director General of Police (DGP) in-charge of Odisha.
The incumbent DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma has gone on leave following his wife’s untimely death Sunday morning.
The Election Commission of India has approved the appointment as the Model Code of Conduct is in force ahead of the elections. The State government had recommended names of three DGP rank officers including that of BK Sharma for the top post.
