Assam: Six IPS officers shifted, Partha Sarathi Mahanta is new CP of Guwahati

Senior Assam Police officer Partha Sarathi Mahanta has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police of Guwahati, succeeding Diganta Barah.

The Assam government on Monday (30.12.2024) enacted significant changes in the police administration, which includes several key transfers of IPS officers. Notably, senior Assam Police officer Partha Sarathi Mahanta has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police of Guwahati, succeeding Diganta Barah.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Akhilesh Kumar Singh (IPS:2003:AM), IGP, T&AP, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Law & Order with additional charge of IGP, Communication.
  2. Diganta Barah (IPS:2004:AM), Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, has been transferred and posted as IGP, SB with additional charge as Director of Lachit Borphukan Academy, Dergaon.
  3. Lachit Baruah (IPS-SPS:2004), who was substantively posted as Inspector General of Police (SB), Kahilipara, Guwahati and functioned as Managing Director, Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd., Rehabari, Guwahati has been transferred and will continue to hold the post of Managing Director, Assam Police Housing Corporation Ltd. Rehabari, Guwahati.
  4. Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan (IPS-SPS:2004), IGP, Law & Order, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Administration.
  5. Vivek Raj Singh (IPS:2006:AM), IGP, MPC, has been transferred and posted as IGP, T&AP with additional charge of IGP, MPC and IGP, BTAD, Kokrajhar.
  6. Partha Sarathi Mahanta (IPS-SPS:2007), who was officiating as IGP, Adminstation, has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, with additional charge of IGP, STF.
