The central government has extended the deputation tenure of Asif Jalal (IPS:2002:HP) as Inspector General (IG) in the Border Security Force (BSF) by two years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (July 11, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal to extend Mr. Jalal’s tenure for two year beyond September 23, 2025, in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy.
Mr. Jalal was initially appointed as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 15, 2020, for a five-year term. In February 2022, he was posted as IG in BSF for a combined tenure lasting until September 23, 2025. With the latest extension, he will now continue in the BSF till September 2027 or until further orders.
