The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday (18.06.2024) appointed IAS officer Ashwani Kumar (IAS:1992:AGMUT) as the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He replaces Gyanesh Bharti (IAS:1998:AGMUT), who was transferred to the post of Additional Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development in March.
Kumar is currently serving as Delhi Divisional Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Home). It is worth noting that after the merger of the three municipal corporations of Delhi, Kumar was appointed as the first Special Officer of MCD.
