In a surprise move the Jagan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh, has shunted the Vijaywada Police Commissioner CH Dwaraka Tirumala Rao (IPS:1989:AP) to the railways.
Rao has been replaced by his junior B Srinivasulu (IPS:1998:AP), who is currently an additional police commissioner in Vijayawada.
The Jagan government was reportedly not happy with the ineffectual handling of the rowdy elements in the city by Rao. In the last few months, the city witnessed several gang wars over land settlements, and the soft nature of Rao was not a deterrent to them.
Jagan perhaps wanted a tough IPS officer to control the law and order Vijayawada.
