The non-compliance of the High Court’s order proved dearly to four IAS officers in Andhra Pradesh. The AP High Court recently issued bailable warrants against the four bureaucrats and an engineer of the irrigation department for failing to comply with the court’s order and turn up before it in a contempt case. The court also directed the SPs of their respective districts to arrest them and produce before it on November 27.
PVR Structures India Pvt Ltd had moved the court alleging the non-payment of its dues by the government despite the completion certificate issued by the competent authority. The court had directed the government to clear the dues by Oct 15 but the order was not implemented. The court had also asked the authorities to appear before it if they fail to clear the dues. But the government officials neither cleared the bills nor appeared before it.
It led the company to file a contempt petition against then Principal Secretary (Irrigation) Shashibhushan Kumar, Principal Secretary (Finance) SS Rawat, Kakinada’s DM Kritika Shukla, Amalapuram Collecter Himanshu Shukla and Irrigation Engineer D V Ram Gopal. Justice Nimmagadda Venkateswarlu took a serious note of their conduct and issued a bailable warrant against them. The matter is listed for hearing on Nov 27.
