In another move to tighten the state’s bureaucratic setup, the Andhra Pradesh government has begun the process of terminating the services of retired officers and staff reappointed by the previous YSRCP government.
A letter issued today by Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad (IAS:1988:AP) mandates that all retired, re-employed senior officers must submit their resignations with immediate effect. All special chief secretaries, principal secretaries, and secretaries to the Government have been instructed to provide a list of these retired and re-employed officers to the General Administration Department (Political) by June 24, 2024.
The state government has adopted a pragmatic approach in this exercise. If the services of any retired officers or employees are deemed essential to their department, fresh orders from the competent authority, in accordance with relevant Business Rules, will be required. However, the government is determined not to retain these individuals without ensuring they make a valuable contribution to state interests.
