Senior IAS officer Neerabh Kumar Prasad (IAS:1997:AP) will continue as Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh for another six months. The central government approved the state government’s request for an extension, delaying his scheduled retirement from June 30, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

In its communication, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirmed the approval of Prasad’s service extension. Prasad took over as Chief Secretary in early June after his predecessor Dr. KS Jawahar Reddy (IAS:1990:AP) went on long leave following the YSR Congress party’s defeat in the assembly elections.

Additionally, the central government has approved the Naidu administration’s request to repatriate senior IPS officer Mahesh Chandra Ladda (IPS:1998:AP) from his central deputation back to Andhra Pradesh. Ladda, currently serving as Inspector General (IG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is likely to be appointed as the state’s Intelligence Chief. At present, IPS officer Kumar Vishwajeet (IPS:1994:AP) is the Director General of Intelligence, a position he assumed ahead of the April 2024 elections in Andhra Pradesh, as appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
