In a significant administrative move, the Karnataka government on Wednesday (04.06.2025) appointed Anjum Parwez (IAS:1994:KN) as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, replacing Luthfulla Khan Atheeq (Retd. IAS:1991:KN), who resigned earlier in the day.
At the time of his appointment, Parwez was serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department. Following the latest order, he has been assigned concurrent charges of Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, and Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Ecology & Environment, in addition to his new role in the Chief Minister’s Office.
Notably, Atheeq, who superannuated on January 31, 2025, was retained on a contractual basis by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as his Additional Chief Secretary. He will continue as Chairperson of Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC) Ltd, the special purpose vehicle overseeing the Peripheral Ring Road project.
