The Andhra Pradesh government has accepted the VRS application of senior IAS officer, Somesh Kumar (IAS:1989:AP), who was Chief Secretary of Telangana before being shifted to Andhra Pradesh. Though he reported to the cadre of Andhra Pradesh as directed by the court and met the Chief Minister, he has not been assigned any posts. Sources said he was not interested in continuing his service though it ends in December.
Kumar, who is close to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has worked in various positions including as an Anantapur collector. Through his ‘chinta to nischintha’ concept, he contributed to the growth of tamarind trees. The tamarind trees are now providing environmental protection in drought-hit Anantapur.
Sources said that Kumar will decide his future as he has several offers on hand, including from the Telangana government.
