IRS officer Amrutha Varshini Palla (IRS-IT:2014), recommended for central deputation by the Department of Revenue, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (September 25, 2025), Ms. Palla will serve in the post under the central staffing scheme for a combined tenure of four years, up to March 4, 2028—taking into account both ex-cadre and CSS deputation—starting from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
