Amit Mohan Govil gets 6-month extension as FIU-India Director

IRS officer Amit Mohan Govil gets 6-month extension as FIU-India Director (additional charge) till August 2026 or till regular appointment.

Senior IRS officer Amit Mohan Govil (IRS-IT:1990), Director General of the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB) under the Department of Revenue, has been given an extension to continue holding additional charge as Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-India).

An order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on Tuesday (March 17, 2026) said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension. He will continue in the additional role for six more months.

The extension will be effective from February 11, 2026. It will remain in place until a regular appointment is made or till the six-month period ends.

Govil has been holding this additional charge since August 2025. He was first given the role for six months. Since no regular officer has been appointed yet, his tenure has now been extended.
