Amit Agrawal to remain UIDAI Chief till November 2024

The central government has granted a one-year extension to senior IAS officer Amit Agrawal (IAS:1993:CG) as the CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

The central government has granted a one-year extension to senior IAS officer Amit Agrawal (IAS:1993:CG) as the CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). According to a September 30th order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of Mr. Agrawal’s deputation tenure. This extension is effective from November 2, 2023, and will continue until November 2, 2024, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.

Amit Agrawal assumed his role as CEO of UIDAI in June of the current year. He was appointed to this position on June 19th, following the retirement of Saurabh Garg (IAS:1991:OR).

In addition to his role as CEO of UIDAI, Amit Agrawal serves as the Chairman of the National Digital Communications Policy Committee. He has held several significant positions within the government, including the role of Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
