Amarendu Prakash has been appointed as Chairman, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) for a period of five years. Presently, he serves as Director-in-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, SAIL. After interviewing nine candidates, the Public Enterprises Selection Board recommended his name to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on April 4.

Nagendra Nath Sinha (IAS:1987:JH), Secretary, Ministry of Steel, has held additional responsibility as SAIL Chairman since 01.05.2023, after Soma Mondal was appointed Member, Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). SAIL Chairperson Mondal retired in April 2023.
