In an administrative development, IAS officer Amar Kushawha (IAS:2012:TN), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Fertilizers, has been re-designated as Director in the same department.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (February 12, 2026), the competent authority approved the re-designation of the post from Deputy Secretary to Director with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post. His tenure will continue for the balance period of the total admissible five-year tenure under the central staffing scheme.
Amar Kushawha began his central deputation tenure on February 19, 2025, when he assumed charge as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Fertilizers. Prior to proceeding on central deputation, he was serving in Tamil Nadu as Joint Secretary in the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department.
