The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday (December 19, 2025) granted Selection Grade to 33 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of the AGMUT cadre, including 29 officers currently serving in the cadre and four officers on central deputation who were given proforma promotion. According to the order, the promotions will take effect from the dates specified against the officers’ names or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.
Among the promoted officers, Phunchu Norbu Thungon and Sumedha Yadav (2012 batch) have been granted notional promotion with effect from January 1, 2025, with actual benefits admissible from the date they assume charge. The remaining officers, largely from the 2013 batch, will receive Selection Grade with effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.
The officers promoted while serving in the AGMUT cadre include Avny Lavasa, Dr Aman Gupta, Dr Tapasya Raghav, Rahul Singh, Anjali Sehrawat, Anshul Garg, T Arun, Vikas Kundal, Kesavan R, Ajit Roy, Nidhi Malik, Sanjit Rodrigues, Sanjiv M Gadkar, Yetindra M Maralkar, Dr Lalhriatzuali Ralte, Nazim Zai Khan, Shakeel Ul Rehman Rather, Pardeep Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Narinder Singh Bali, Ajjaz Ahmad Bhat, Majid Khalil Ahmad Drabu, Mohammad Akbar Wani, Neeraj Bharti, Duly Kamduk, Mamata Riba and Jitendra Kumar Jain.
In addition, Dr Shah Faesal (AGMUT:2010) and Ruchika Katyal, Dr Naveen Aggarwal and Kriti Garg (all AGMUT:2013), who are currently on central deputation, have been granted proforma promotion to the Selection Grade on an actual basis, effective from the dates mentioned in the order.
