The Union government on Thursday (02.11.2023) notified the appointment of Advocate Kaushik Goswami as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court. As per the official notification, Senior Advocate Kaushik Goswami will be serving in this position appointed by the central government- for a tenure of two years from the day he assumes charge of his office.
On October 17, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the names of two Advocates for the appointment as Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court. Notably, the Union government seems to have delayed the processing of Senior Counsel Unni Krishnan Nair’s name, which was also proposed in the same Collegium resolution that recommended Senior Advocate Goswami’s appointment.
