ADGP Gurjinder Pal Singh (IPS:1994:CG) is set to be promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP) in Chhattisgarh. Following the retirement of DGP Ashok Juneja (IPS:1989:CG), a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting was held on Tuesday to fill the vacant DGP post, where it was recommended to promote ADGP Gurjinder Pal Singh to the DG rank.
Chhattisgarh has two cadre and two ex-cadre DG posts, previously held by Ashok Juneja, Pawan Dev(IPS:1992:CG), Arun Dev Gautam(IPS:1992:CG), and Himanshu Gupta (IPS:1994:CG). After the Supreme Court reinstated GP Singh’s service following a ruling by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), uncertainty loomed over his promotion to DG, especially amid discussions about extending Ashok Juneja’s tenure at the time.
