The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) approved extensions in the temporary upgradation of four senior-level posts across key ministries and departments of the Government of India.
According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the temporary upgradation of the post of Chairperson, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) from the level of Joint Secretary to Additional Secretary has been extended till March 25, 2027. The post is presently held by Rahul Singh (IAS:1996:BH).
The ACC has also approved the extension of upgradation of the post of Joint Secretary to the level of Additional Secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Ministry of Finance. The post is currently held by Alok Pandey (IPoS:1994), and the extension will remain valid till November 24, 2026.
In another decision, the temporary upgradation of the post of Deputy Secretary/Director to the level of Additional Secretary in the Department of Science and Technology has been extended till August 1, 2027. The post is presently held by Sunil Kumar (IFoS:1995:PB).
Further, the ACC approved the extension of the upgradation of the post of Joint Secretary to Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries till January 7, 2027. The post is currently held by Hanif Qureshi (IPS:1996:HY).
