New Delhi: IAS officer Gavali Parag Harshad (IAS:2013:OD), Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre Odisha.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal for his premature repatriation to the parent cadre with provision of an extended cooling-off period.
Harshad has been serving as Deputy Secretary in MoHUA since March 2025. His central deputation was originally scheduled to continue until July 11, 2029.
He had joined central deputation on July 11, 2024, for a five-year tenure as Private Secretary to the Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram. His tenure as Private Secretary was curtailed on February 28, 2025, following which he was shifted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as Deputy Secretary.
