New Delhi: The central deputation tenure of T Mithra (IAS:2009:KL) as Director of Census Operations (DCO)/Director of Citizen Registration (DCR), Kerala, has been extended by one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to extend her deputation tenure for one year beyond November 19, 2026, up to November 19, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The extension has been approved by continuing the upgradation of the post to the level of Joint Secretary for the third year.
Mithra has been serving as DCO/DCR, Kerala, since November 19, 2019. Her initial tenure was approved up to March 31, 2023, which was subsequently extended up to December 31, 2025.
She was empanelled for Joint Secretary-level posts in February 2025, following which her post was upgraded to Joint Secretary level in March 2025.
In December 2025, she was granted a second extension, taking her overall cumulative tenure to seven years and extending it up to November 19, 2026. With the latest extension, her tenure will now continue up to November 19, 2027.
