Jaipur: The Rajasthan Government has sent a proposal to the Centre seeking a one year extension in service for Chief Secretary V Srinivas (IAS:1989:RJ), whose tenure is scheduled to end on August 31, 2026.
According to sources, the proposal is currently awaiting the Centre’s approval. If cleared, Srinivas will continue as the State’s top bureaucrat for another year, delaying the process of appointing a new Chief Secretary.
V Srinivas assumed charge as Chief Secretary of Rajasthan on November 17, 2025, after returning from Central deputation where he was serving as Secretary, Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Government of India.
During his tenure as Chief Secretary, he has been overseeing the implementation of the Bhajan Lal Sharma government’s key governance and development initiatives.
With the proposal now pending before the Centre, Rajasthan is likely to retain the same administrative leadership beyond August 31, subject to approval by the Central Government.
