In a significant development, 33 Uttar Pradesh’s Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officers will soon be promoted to the coveted IAS cadre, as the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting for the selection year 2025 was held in New Delhi on June 10, paving the way for it.
The DPC meeting was held to evaluate eligible officers for induction into the IAS against vacancies allocated to Uttar Pradesh under the promotion quota.
The promotions will benefit eight officers from the 2010 batch, 21 officers from the 2011 batch, and four 2012 batch officers, with formal notifications likely to be issued by the end of this month.
Senior UP govt officials, including Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal, Principal Secretary (Appointments & Personnel) M. Devraj, Additional Personnel Chief (APC) Deepak Kumar, and Special Secretary Vijay Kumar, participated in the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Centre’s representatives and a member of the UPSC, making it a six-member panel responsible for finalizing recommendations.
It needs to be mentioned here that the central government had allocated 33 vacancies to Uttar Pradesh under the IAS promotion quota for the selection year 2025.
The availability of a relatively large number of vacancies has opened opportunities not only for officers of the 2010 and 2011 batches but also for some senior officers from the 2012 batch.
Officials said the number of available posts is higher than in previous years, enabling a broader pool of officers to be considered for induction into the IAS cadre.
A total of eight officers from the 2010 batch are likely to get IAS promotions, which include the officers Dr. Vishram, Ashok Kumar Kannaujia, Pushpraj Singh, Rajkumar Dwivedi, Rakesh Kumar Patel, Alok Kumar, Sushila, and Sanjay Kumar Singh.
The largest share of promotions is likely to go to officers belonging to the 2011 PCS batch, as a total of 21 officers from this batch have reportedly been considered by the DPC.
They include:
- Poonam Nigam
- Santosh Bahadur Singh
- Pankaj Verma
- Pradeep Kumar Yadav
- Yoganand Pandey
- Vijay Kumar Singh
- Atul Kumar-II
- Dr. Sunil Kumar Verma
- Harsh Dev Pandey
- Shailendra Kumar Singh
- Dr. Nitin Madan
- Priyanka Singh
- Amit Kumar-I
- Rinki Jaiswal
- Amit Singh
- Amit Kumar-II
- Vivek Srivastava
- Vaibhav Mishra
- Narendra Bahadur Singh
- Sandeep Kumar
- Garima Swaroop
With 21 officers from the 2011 batch and eight from the 2010 batch, a total of 29 promotions are expected to be filled from these two batches alone.
As the combined strength of eligible officers from the 2010 and 2011 batches comes to only 29, the remaining four seats are likely to be filled by senior officers from the 2012 PCS batch.
Officials indicated that the unusually high number of vacancies has made it possible for select officers from the 2012 batch to enter the zone of consideration earlier than anticipated.
The final list of promoted officers will be determined after a detailed assessment of service records and vigilance clearances, and after completion of these formalities, the official notification is expected to be issued by the end of June 2026.
