Seasoned energy sector executive Sanjay Khanna has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), India’s second-largest state-owned fuel retailer.
Prior to his elevation, Khanna was serving as Director (Refineries) at BPCL and was also holding additional charge of CMD after G Krishnakumar superannuated on April 30, 2025.
According to a communication from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas dated April 9, 2026, Khanna’s appointment will be effective till May 31, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders.
His appointment follows selection through a Search-cum-Selection Committee process after the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) did not recommend any candidate for the post.
