Ram Singh appointed Secretary, Sports Authority of India; Joint Secretary tenure in Minority Affairs curtailed

IAS officer Ram Singh’s deputation has been curtailed to enable his joining as Secretary, Sports Authority of India.

Ram Singh (IAS:2008:AM), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, will join as Secretary, Sports Authority of India (SAI), following curtailment of his central deputation tenure.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (June 1, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Minority Affairs for premature curtailment of his deputation.

The decision has been taken to enable Singh to assume charge as Secretary, Sports Authority of India.

The order stated that he will serve in SAI for an overall tenure of five years up to May 24, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
