ACC extends IPS Abhishek Pathak’s tenure as BSF IG by one year

ACC approves 1-year extension of IPS officer Abhishek Pathak as BSF IG beyond March 2026.

The deputation tenure of Abhishek Pathak (IPS:2004:CG) as Inspector General (IG) in the Border Security Force (BSF) has been extended by one year.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (March 20, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal to extend his deputation tenure for a period of one year beyond March 10, 2026. With this extension, his total deputation tenure will reach eight years, granted in relaxation of the IPS tenure policy.

Pathak has been serving as IG in BSF since June 2023. Prior to this, he was posted in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) from February 2019.
