UP DGP Rajeev Krishna holds zonal crime review meeting; stresses increased use of technology in policing

Uttar Pradesh’s acting DGP Rajeev Krishna (IPS:1991:UP) held a zonal crime review meeting in Mirzapur. The meeting focused on effectively implementing law enforcement strategies and enhancing public safety across the Vindhyachal and Varanasi zones.

Senior police officials, including the ADG of Varanasi Zone, IGs/DIGs of Vindhyachal and Varanasi ranges, Superintendents of Police (SPs) from both ranges, and other senior officers, attended the high-level meeting.

The DGP made a detailed assessment of policing in key areas like the implementation of crime control measures, action against cow smuggling, and ongoing operations against criminals and organised gangs. The progress of Mission Shakti, a flagship initiative aimed at ensuring women’s safety and empowerment, was given special emphasis in the meeting.

The DGP made a special mention of the increasing role of technology in policing. Similarly, senior police officers also discussed the effective use of the Yaksh App in tracking criminals and solving cases, as well as strategies to curb cybercrime through improved surveillance and public awareness campaigns.

The utilisation of electronic evidence (e-evidence) in investigations to strengthen prosecution outcomes came up for special review. In addition, the status of the public grievance redressal system was examined, with directions to ensure prompt, transparent, and quality disposal of complaints to build public trust.

DGP Krishna reiterated the state govt’s policy of zero tolerance towards crime. While addressing the officers, the DGP directed them to take strict and consistent action against offenders and stressed the importance of maintaining a sensitive and citizen-friendly approach in public dealing.
