Maharashtra Chief Secretary D K Jain is likely to get a six-month extension because the state government is keen on not disturbing the official pecking order before the 2019 national election.
Jain’s extension may impact Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Urvinder Pal Singh Madan (IAS:1983:MH) and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta (IAS:1984:MH). While Madan is the second-most senior additional chief secretary due to retire in October 2019, Mehta is due to retire in September 2019.
