The Gujarat government on Tuesday (September 16, 2025) appointed IAS officer P D Palsana (IAS:2012:GJ) as the full-fledged Managing Director of the Gujarat Unreserved Educational & Economical Development Corporation (GUEEDC).
Mr. Palsana, who was serving as Additional Secretary in the Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Cooperation Department, had been holding additional charge of the post. With the latest order, he has now been given full-time responsibility as Managing Director of GUEEDC.
The GUEEDC, along with the Gujarat Unreserved Educational & Economical Development Commission, was set up in the aftermath of the 2015 Patidar quota agitation to carry out initiatives aimed at the social and economic development of communities belonging to unreserved classes.
The post of MD had remained vacant for a considerable period, prompting leaders associated with the agitation to threaten fresh protests. They had demanded that both the post of MD and that of Chairman of the Commission be filled without delay.
Following Mr. Palsana’s appointment, Patidar leaders expressed satisfaction but reiterated their demand for the immediate appointment of a Chairman to the Gujarat Unreserved Educational & Economical Development Commission.
