The Kerala government has initiated the process of appointing a new Director General of Police (DGP) for the state as the current incumbent, Shaik Darvesh Saheb (IPS:1990:KL), is going to retire on June 30, 2025.

To expedite the process of appointment, the government has written to six senior most IPS officers in the state with 30 years of service, asking them to share their resumes so that their names could be forwarded to the UPSC for shortlisting.

The eligible officers contacted for the DGP position include Nitin Agrawal (IPS:1990:KL), Ravada A Chandrasekhar (IPS:1991:KL), and Yogesh Gupta (IPS:1993:KL). Additionally, three ADGPs — Manoj Abraham (IPS:1994:KL), S Suresh (IPS:1995:KL), and M R Ajith Kumar (IPS:1995:KL) — have also been contacted to submit their resumes.

The state government is believed to forward these names to the UPSC for shortlisting by April.
