Kerala’s suspended IAS officer N Prasanth (IAS:2007:KL) has been issued a charge memo by Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan (IAS:1990:KL). Prasanth was recently suspended for his outburst against his senior, Additional Chief Secretary A Jayathilak (IAS:1991:KL), through social media posts, calling him a ‘psychopath’.
As per the memo of charges, Prasanth’s comments on social media were prima facie found to be a breach of conduct. Top sources confirmed that the charge memo was issued on Thursday.
The state government had initiated disciplinary action and suspended N Prasanth, Special Secretary of Agriculture, on November 11 for making humiliating personal attacks against Jayathilak on social media.
The action was based on the chief secretary’s report that highlighted the ongoing feud between Jayathilak and Prasanth. Jayathilak is said to have reported on Peasant’s lapses and Prasanth took to social media posts to vent his ire against Jayathilak, accusing him of ruining the careers of subordinates for not following his dictates. He went a step further in his diatribe describing Jayathilak as mentally ill and a ‘psychopath.’
The government found Prasanth’s outburst as grave indiscipline saying such remarks have the potential of creating divisiveness and disaffection among the IAS officers in the state that can also affect service to the public.
