Senior IAS officer Alka Tiwari (IAS:1988:JH) is likely to be appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, as the current Chief Secretary, L Khiangte (IAS:1988:JH) is set to retire on October 31. On Tuesday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet repatriated Ms. Tiwari to her parent cadre in Jharkhand. Prior to her repatriation, she was serving as Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).
If appointed, Ms. Tiwari will hold the position until her retirement in September 2025.
L Khiangte assumed office as Chief Secretary on December 6, 2023, succeeding Shukhdeo Singh (IAS:1987:JH).
