Who will be the next Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC)? So far, 55 applicants have applied for the position. Among them, three prominent names stand out: Former Additional Chief Secretaries Sanjeev Mittal (Retd. IAS:1987:) and Mahesh Kumar Gupta (Retd. IAS:1987:UP), along with current UPSSSC member Professor Akhand Pratap Singh.
Sources indicate that Sanjeev Mittal and Mahesh Kumar Gupta are the frontrunners for the role.
The post of UPSSSC Chairman became vacant on July 11 when the incumbent Chairman, Praveen Kumar (Retd. IAS:1982:UP), resigned due to health reasons. Kumar, who was appointed in December 2019, was expected to serve until December 2024 but stepped down earlier.
Following his resignation, the commission’s senior member, ON Singh, was appointed as the acting Chairman.
UPSSSC conducts recruitment examinations for Group C and D posts in the state.
