Dr. N Kalaiselvi‘s tenure as Director General (DG) of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has been extended for two years. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Tuesday approved her extension beyond August 7, 2024 or until further orders.
Dr. Kalaiselvi made history as the first woman to lead the CSIR when she was appointed to the post on August 7, 2022 for two years. Her original tenure was set to expire on August 7, but the central government extended it for an additional two years.
