The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) concluded its selection meeting on October 10, 2023, for the position of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) at the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) without identifying a suitable candidate. Taking into consideration the strategic importance and future vision of the company, as well as the performance of the candidates interviewed, the board did not put forth a recommendation. Instead, it advised the Ministry of Railways to explore alternative selection methods, including the formation of a search-cum-selection committee (SCSC), as deemed appropriate for the appointment, subject to approval by the competent authority.
During the selection meeting, the following three candidates were interviewed:
- Mrs. Shelly Verma, Director (Finance), Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC)
- M Nagaraj, Director (Corporate Planning), Housing & Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO)
- Bijaya Kumar Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Indian Railways
