Manoj Tripathi, who currently serves as the Chief Engineer in charge of monitoring under-construction hydroelectric projects (HEPs) within the Central Electricity Authority, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) for a tenure spanning three years.
Previously, Nand Lal Sharma, the Chairman and Managing Director of Satluj Jal Vidhyut Nigam Ltd., had been handling the additional responsibility of BBMB Chairman. This interim arrangement was necessitated following the retirement of BBMB Chairman Sanjay Srivastva on July 1.
It is noteworthy that the crucial positions of Member Power and Member Irrigation have remained vacant for more than two years. It is imperative that these positions be expeditiously filled from candidates originating from Punjab and Haryana, in accordance with a time-bound process.
