Centre notifies appointment of Justice TS Sivagnanam as Chief Justice of Calcutta HC

The Union government on Monday (01.05.2023) notified the appointment of Justice TS Sivagnanam, the senior-most judge of the Calcutta High Court, as its Chief Justice.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name on February 09 this year as the then Chief Justice, Justice Prakash Shrivastava, was to demit office on March 30. Justice Sivagnanam originally belongs to the Madras High Court.

He was appointed as a judge on March 31 2009 and the date of his retirement is September 15, 2025.
