Samant Kumar Goel (IPS:1984:PB) has been given one year extension in service as Secretary of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) till June 30, 2023. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (24.06.2022), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Goel’s extension for a period of one year beyond his present tenure i.e. up to 30.06.2023, in relaxation of FR 56 (d) and Rule 16 (1A) of All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.
Goel was set to retire on May 31, 2022, but as he was appointed as RAW Chief on June 26, 2019, he got a fixed tenure of two years till June 30, 2021. The central government had on May 27 last year granted him first extension of service till June 30 this year.
