Maharashtra : Principal advisor to CM Ajoy Mehta appointed as MahaRERA Chief

Principal advisor to chief minister (CM) Uddhav Thackeray and former chief secretary Ajoy Mehta (Retd.IAS:1984:MH) is being appointed as chairman of Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA).

The post fell vacant after Gautam Chatterjee (Retd.1984:MH) completed his term on January 20, 2021. Dr. Vijay Satbir Singh (Retd.IAS:1984:MH), a sitting RERA member, is currently holding the additional charge of RERA chairperson’s role.

Mehta retired as chief secretary of Maharashtra on June 30, after he was given two extensions of nine months. He has been serving as the principal advisor to the CM and played a key role in chalking out the key policies and handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
