The CRPF has decided to immediately withdraw its men attached as “helping staff” (orderlies) to officers, who have either retired or repatriated from the force. Fear of the spread of COVID-19 infection, is said to be the reason behind the move.
The shortage of manpower is another reason, with scores of serving personnel undergoing quarantine.
The shortage of manpower has further aggravated due to the ongoing lockdown, which has led to the extension of leave of a number of personnel amid the countrywide efforts to break the chain of coronavirus infection.
The CRPF headquarters has directed all the offices in Delhi and NCR to furnish the details of all such personnel attached with the retired/ repatriated CRPF officials who are essentially Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.
